Elementary School Problem Solving
Fun Math Curriculum
Fun Math leads elementary age students through complex math concepts via age-appropriate approaches, such as fun stories in real-life scenarios, riddles and puzzles, magic tricks, cartoon drawings, jokes, etc. Math is fun! This course is designed by math experts who are passionate educators and work hard to present the fun aspect of math to young students to stimulate interest in math and develop problem solving and critical thinking skills at an early age.
Middle School Problem Solving
Math Challenge I-A/B
Math Challenge I-A and Math Challenge I-B are introductory level courses for 5-8 grade students who have limited experience with in-depth problem solving and math competitions. Students learn skills to apply the concepts they learn in school math classes into problem solving. Content includes pre-algebra and beginning algebra, fundamental geometry, counting and probability, and basic concepts in number theory. Students develop skills in creative thinking, logical reasoning, analytical and problem solving skills. Students are exposed to beginning contests such as AMC 8, MATHCOUNTS, Math Olympiads for Elementary and Middle School (MOEMS), and ZIML Division M.
Middle School to High School Bridge
Math Challenge I-C
Math Challenge I-C is a four-part course designed to bridge the middle school and high school math materials. For students who participate in the American Math Competitions (AMC), there is a big gap in both the fundamental math concepts and the problem-solving techniques involved between the AMC 8 and AMC 10 contests. This course is developed to help students transition smoothly and prepare them for high school math competitions including the AMC 10 & 12, ARML, and ZIML. The full course covers topics and introductory problem solving in algebra, geometry, and finite math. These subjects serve as the fundamental knowledge needed for a more advanced problem solving course such as Math Challenge II-A.
High School Problem Solving
Math Challenge II-A/B
Math Challenge II-A and Math Challenge II-B are for students who are preparing for high school math contests such as AMC 10 (MC II-A) and AMC 12 (MC II-B). Students are required to have school level knowledge in Algebra, Geometry, and Basic Number Theory and Counting and Probability up to the 10th grade level. Topics include quadratic and polynomial equations, radicals and absolute values, polygons, circles, advanced counting strategies, binomial coefficients, sequence and series, numbers and divisibility, and modular arithmetic. Math Challenge II-B covers additional topics such as complex numbers, logarithms, and trigonometry. In addition to AMC 10 and 12, MC II-A and MC II-B help students preparing for advanced MATHCOUNTS, ARML, and ZIML Junior Varsity.
Advanced High School Problem Solving
Math Challenge III/IV
Math Challenge III and Math Challenge IV courses are for students who are qualified to participate in the AIME or USA(J)MO invitational competitions, or have an equivalent level of mathematical experience. Topics include algebra, geometry, combinatorics, and number theory, with the focus more on in-depth problem solving strategies, theorems, and techniques, including pairing, change of variables, inequalities, theorems such as Ceva and Menelaus, bijections, and more. The curricula have been proven to help students develop strong problem solving skills that make them perform well in math contests such as AIME, USA(J)MO, ARML, and ZIML Varsity.
