Course Description
Math Challenge II-A and Math Challenge II-B are for students who are preparing for high school math contests such as AMC 10 (MC II-A) and AMC 12 (MC II-B). Students are required to have school level knowledge in Algebra, Geometry, and Basic Number Theory and Counting and Probability up to the 10th grade level. Topics include quadratic and polynomial equations, radicals and absolute values, polygons, circles, advanced counting strategies, binomial coefficients, sequence and series, numbers and divisibility, and modular arithmetic. Math Challenge II-B covers additional topics such as complex numbers, logarithms, and trigonometry. In addition to AMC 10 and 12, MC II-A and MC II-B help students preparing for advanced MATHCOUNTS, ARML, and ZIML Junior Varsity.
MC II-A or MC II-B? There is some overlap between the two courses. We recommend students in grades 10 and lower preparing for the AMC 10 take II-A and students preparing for the AMC 12 take II-B.
