This program includes four distinct phases. Ideal start for the program is early April, but can be flexible based on student schedules. Rough lengths for each phase are listed below but may change for each student based on progress.
- Phase 1 – Initial Training
- This phase is roughly 1 month.
- Students take lessons from mentors on introduction to research.
- Meeting with mentor each week for 90 minutes.
- Assignments are given for student to complete offline, including reading background materials (books and papers) and writing reports.
- The lessons in this phase may be group lessons or private mentoring sessions, usually over Zoom.
- Phase 2 – Active Research
- This phase is roughly 1.5 months.
- Students works on selected topics and conduct active research, following the guidance from mentors.
- Meeting with mentor once every two weeks.
- Phase 3 – Independent Study
- This phase is roughly 2 months.
- Students continue on their research independently.
- Meeting with mentor once every 2 weeks.
- Phase 4 – Write-up Period
- This phase is roughly 1.5 months.
- Student writes up the research findings in the form of a research paper, under the guide of the mentor.
- Meeting with mentor once every two weeks, or as needed.
At the end of the program, students are expected to have research findings written in papers with publication quality. The Intelligence Planet, the mathematical journal run by Zoom Education Foundation and Resources (a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization), hosted by Areteem Institute, will give priority to reviewing papers produced in this program for publication. (Note that this means the papers from this program have priority to be reviewed. Publication depends on the quality of the paper.) It is also encouraged for students to seek publication of their papers at other reputable journals.
The tuition for this program is $6,500. Students in Areteem Institute’s College Counseling program receive $500 discount.
