The focus of this term of Math Challenge IV is the fundamental topics in math olympiad. Students have 4 months to complete the course.

In this course, Dr. Kevin Wang gives an introduction of common topics of Math Olympiad in 12 hours of video lectures, including:

  • Pigeonhole Principle,
  • Mathematical Induction,
  • Inequalities,
  • Diophantine Equations,
  • Functional Equations.

Students are expected to be comfortable with the concepts of techniques of equations, functions, inequalities, counting and probability, fundamental knowledge of number theory, and trigonometry, and are interested and self-motivated to learn more in-depth problem-solving techniques.

If the student is preparing for the USA(J)MO or similar national or international Math Olympiad, this is a great starting course.
